Barcelona Light House

This will be a fairly quick blog but I wanted to show you what an emergency bathroom break can land you!  I was driving recently from upstate New York to Ohio and had a “got to go” moment…I landed in Westfield, NY, in what used to be known as Portland before the harbors name was changed to Barcelona.  A very historic place mostly due to its strategic location on Lake Erie.

This picture doesn’t do it justice but the wind was pounding and the waves were really rocking the pier our there.  This light house has been a maintain in the harbor since 1829!  It is in great shape and still functional!  A flame could still be seen in the tower.

One last thing before I go!  I found these abandoned dwellings below the light house.  I’m sure they have lots of stories just wishing they could be told!

Thank you for following along…just wanted to post the video blog.  It can also be found on youtube:  Journey with Jax – YouTube
