Letchworth State Park, NY
I think when people from other places of the United States contemplate New York they get New York City in their way of thinking. New York is a very beautiful place. Rich in history and scenic places. I’ve enjoyed getting to experience this state with my older sons.
This past May we stumbled onto Letchworth State Park. It was a hot day but the park and walking trails have a ton of shade. The main falls has a cafe serving ice cream too!
There is a series of water falls that were shocking at first for me. I did not expect to see such an amazing place. The photographic opportunities here were incredible! I know when you think New York and water falls everyone automatically thinks about Niagra Falls, rightfully so BUT these series of water falls did not disappoint.
Observing them had me in an out of body experience feeling like I was in Montana or in one of my other favorite western states!

And lastly…
There were a lot of green, grassy and treed areas for group and camping. The boys and I just hit this place while exploring our world but I’d truly suggest making it a stop on your exploration of New York!

Awesome jax. You’re absolutely right, when I think about New York, this is not what springs to mind, and it’s opened my eyes, as to what lies beyond the known. It’s a shame as well because you have such beauty, only seen by the few. It’s an absolutely beautiful place and I can understand exactly what you meant by feeling that you were in Montana.
